Surrounded by river and national forest, this property required sensitive redesign to diminish the existing harsh boundary between man-made and natural. The landscape plan developed in conjunction with three site-specific works by Andy Goldsworthy and acquisition of a Brad Rude sculpture. Materials were chosen for their quiet impact, and plantings for their compatibility with the native vegetation. New paths, fencing, decks and pavements were established in response to views, desire lines and natural features.
